Flying high in the sky -- Safely
Spring breezes rocket kites skyward, but kids and adults who enjoy this timeless
pastime need to remember some simple safety rules:
- Never fly a kite near power lines.
- Choose a wide-open field to fly kites.
- If a kite is caught in a power line, leave it there.
- Do not fly kites on rainy days when lightning could use the string as a conductor
to reach the ground.
- Never use wire, tinsel or any metal in kites or string -- they can conduct electricity.
