PSO Foundation Donation Expands Wildlife Education and Eagle Conservation Efforts Across Oklahoma

August 11, 2026

The Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) Foundation is announcing a $45,000 contribution to the Sutton Avian Research Center.

The contribution will support the Sutton Center's mission to educate Oklahomans about wildlife conservation and protect the state's bald eagle population through three key initiatives: hands-on educational programs for students, the Sutton Center's popular Eagle Cam livestream, and volunteer training and equipment for annual bald eagle nest surveys across Oklahoma.

"The PSO Foundation is committed to investing in educational opportunities that inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators and environmental stewards," said Leigh Anne Strahler, president and chief operating officer of PSO. "Through Sutton's engaging wildlife programs, Eagle Cam and conservation research, students can experience science in a meaningful way while gaining a greater appreciation for Oklahoma's natural heritage."

The Sutton Center's wildlife education program engages students through live bird experiences and hands-on STEM learning while highlighting the conservation success story of the bald eagle. The PSO Foundation's contribution will expand these educational opportunities, support a two-year sponsorship of the Sutton Center's Eagle Cam, a popular classroom resource with more than two million views, and help equip and train volunteers who monitor bald eagle nests across Oklahoma to ensure the continued success of the state's eagle population.

"As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, we can all take pride in our nation's commitment to wildlife conservation," said Dan Reinking, interim director of the Sutton Avian Research Center. "The recovery of the bald eagle demonstrates what can be accomplished when people work together to protect our natural heritage, and we are grateful for partners like PSO who help make that work possible."
