VW Settlement Brings Grants for Off Road Alternative-Fuel Equipment
As a part of the 2016 VW Settlement, Oklahoma has been allocated approximately $21 million to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from the transportation sector. Approximately $4 million of the total budget is reserved for off road equipment, and companies looking to replace qualifying equipment may be able to receive grants.
Qualifying equipment includes:
- Forklifts
- Freight Switchers
- Ferries and Tugs
- Airport Ground Support Equipment
- Port Cargo Handling
Grant applications can be submitted online, and funding is a competitive process dependent on the details of each individual project. The primary eligibility focus is on cost effective reduction of mobile nitrogen oxide emissions within certain counties in Oklahoma. Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) will prioritize projects based on the cost per ton of mobile NOx reduced, project cost, project location, and the percentage of project match offered by each candidate.
