When the power goes out, finding the problem quickly makes all the difference, and PSO is using smarter tools to help crews restore electricity faster.
PSO has reached an important milestone by introducing new tools that give operators and dispatchers clearer insight into where outages are occurring across the system.
Here’s why this matters: When an outage occurs, every minute counts. In the past, crews often had to patrol long stretches of line to locate the source of the problem. With new system data and PSO’s Distance to Fault (DTF) tool now becoming available, that process is changing. Dispatch teams can better pinpoint where an issue is located, allowing crews to head directly to the source instead of searching line by line.
As this technology continues to roll out, customers will see a meaningful benefit: shorter outage times. By reducing the need for lengthy field patrols, PSO can restore power more quickly while maintaining strong system reliability.
“This is a great example of how innovation and collaboration are improving the customer experience,” said Tyler Devereux, Managing Director of Distribution Operations. “These new tools help us respond faster and smarter, which means fewer disruptions and more reliable service for the communities we serve.”
This is one of many ways PSO is using teamwork and technology to strengthen the electric system and deliver safe, dependable service to Oklahoma customers.
