Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), an operating unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP), is awarding robotics team grants totaling $21,550 to schools and organizations in its service areas across the state. Of that total, $9,250 is going to Tulsa area robotics programs.
The FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics grants program is a nationwide initiative that supports pre-kindergarten through grade 12 student education with an emphasis on STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. AEP funds FIRST grants on behalf of its operating companies. Grants awarded for 2018 range from $250 to $1,350.
“PSO is aware of the critical need for strong STEM education and is proud to have our parent company’s support in providing funding for our area schools and robotics teams,” said PSO’s Carole Huff Hicks, Manager, External Affairs, Tulsa/Tulsa Metro. “We are glad to help students as they pursue firsthand experiences in science and technology, and are hopeful that they will continue their post-secondary studies in these fields and consider career options which require this knowledge.”

- Boevers Elementary (Union Public Schools)
- Booker T. Washington High School (Tulsa Public Schools)
- Boy Scout Troop 26 (Tulsa)
- Broken Arrow High School (B.A. Public Schools)
- Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma
- Girl Scout Troop 2612 (Broken Arrow)
- Jenks High School (Jenks Public Schools)
- Memorial High School (Tulsa Public Schools)
- Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences (Tulsa Public Schools)
- Union Public Schools (Union Public Schools)
