Public Service Company of Oklahoma: Partner with Tulsa's Central High School
PSO "adopted" Central High School in 1984, through the Metro Tulsa Chamber of Commerce Partner in Education program. The match was obviously perfect, since PSO is headquartered in the renovated old Central High School, at 212 E. 6th Street. PSO moved into the original Central High School building in 1979.

PSO recently hosted business students from Central in the company's customer call center. We got a great response. (click image for larger pdf version)

Since then, PSO has worked in partnership with Central on a wide variety of assistance for its students. These programs and activities include (but are not limited to):
- Raising funds for caps and gowns for disadvantaged graduating seniors.
- Providing holiday food baskets for families of disadvantaged students.
- Funding baseball uniforms due to an inadequate school budget.
- Conducting school supply drives for basic and art school supplies for students.
- Providing volunteers for mock job interviews, test taking, and job shadowing.
- Providing tickets to dance students for the dress rehearsals of the Tulsa Ballet.
- Sponsoring a teacher and staff reception at the end of each school year.
- Sponsoring a freshman orientation session.
- Planning a tutoring program for 9th grade algebra I students.
- Providing in-kind printing for numerous projects, including senior student portfolios.
- Helping to sponsor the yearbook.
- Planning a rotating art gallery in our headquarters (old Central high school) for senior art students.
PSO continues to enjoy our meaningful partnership with Central High School, and the long history both institutions share, as an important part of Tulsa. We look forward to many more years of assisting students and teachers through our Partner in Education.
