PSO announced it is contributing $100,000 in 2005 to bolster the Light A Life fund so it can help even more financially strapped customers pay their energy bills during a time of high natural gas costs.

“With natural gas prices near record-high levels across the country, we know that energy bills could be a real financial issue for many households in Oklahoma this winter,” said Major Henry Gonzalez, Divisional Commander, Arkansas-Oklahoma Division of The Salvation Army.

Gonzalez thanked the company for stepping up to help raise awareness about the energy aid fund and providing a contribution that will increase the amount of money that can be distributed to Oklahomans in need.

The Salvation Army discussed the importance of energy aid funds to help Oklahomans in need pay their energy bills during a recent radio broadcast (Windows Media: 15min, 4 secs : get player), hosted by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

PSO's Light A Life program helps thousands of Oklahomans each year pay their electric bill and we are pleased to make this donation near the close of 2005, at a time when giving and helping others is on everyone’s mind, said Bill McKamey, PSO vice president External Affairs.

PSO customers have always been generous when it comes to Light A Life. Since 1986, Light A Life has been helping Oklahoma families who could not otherwise afford to heat and cool their homes. PSO pays all administrative costs for the program so that all the proceeds can go to help those who need it most.
